Overview

Why Attend

Reliability-Centred Maintenance is a structured approach to maintenance decision-making that focuses resources on what matters most: keeping critical facilities and building assets functioning reliably while avoiding unnecessary work on low-risk equipment. Rather than applying the same maintenance strategy across every system, RCM helps organizations identify how and why assets fail, then match each one to the most appropriate maintenance approach.

As facilities become more complex and maintenance budgets face increasing scrutiny, the ability to prioritize maintenance effort based on risk and criticality has become essential. To build this capability, the Reliability-Centred Maintenance for Facilities and Building Assets training course, equips facilities and maintenance professionals with the analytical tools needed to apply RCM principles, strengthen asset reliability, and support long-term lifecycle management.

Through a practical, case-based approach, participants learn how to conduct failure analysis, select the right maintenance strategy for each asset, and drive continuous maintenance optimization across their facilities.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Explain the core principles and history of Reliability-Centred Maintenance and its application in facilities management.
Conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) for critical building assets.
Classify assets by criticality and select the appropriate maintenance strategy for each.
Apply RCM decision logic to balance reliability, cost, and risk.
Use reliability data and performance metrics to support maintenance optimization.
Integrate RCM principles into broader lifecycle management planning for facilities and equipment.
Build organizational buy-in for shifting from reactive to reliability-based maintenance practices.
